Blast kills 8 soldiers in central Iraq

Baghdad, August 11: A bomb explosion has targeted a house in the province of Diyala in central Iraq, killing eight army soldiers on their quest for militants on the run.

The blast occurred at around 5:00 a.m. (0200 GMT) on Wednesday in the town of Saadiyah, 100 kilometers (65 miles) northeast of Baghdad, AFP reported.

Militants detonated the house after a number of gunmen lured the soldiers to the house following clashes at a security checkpoint.

The incident also left four other soldiers wounded.
