Kabul, June 28: At least eight civilians have lost their lives in a Taliban-type bomb attack in the central Afghan province of Ghazni, local police officials say.
The blast happened after an improvised explosive device went off in the Andar district in Ghazni province.
“The bomb was planted by the enemies, the Taliban, to target security forces. But it struck a civilian car and killed eight civilians,” AFP quoted Mohammad Idris, a provincial police official, as saying.
Idris further added that women and children were among the dead without giving exact figures.
Scores of civilians have been killed in crossfire between rebels and security forces during the insurgency by the Taliban whose main goal is to topple the Western-backed government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
