Baghdad, August 21: A bomb explosion has claimed the lives of at least two people and left 20 others wounded at a market in southern Baghdad.
According to the police, the Friday blast took place in Dora neighborhood at around 8.00 am (0500 GMT) when a sticky bomb attached to a car exploded as traders gathered at a wholesale market in order to buy fruit and vegetables, AFP reported.
On Wednesday, 95 people were killed and over 500 others wounded in two separate truck bomb explosions outside the Foreign and Finance ministries near the heavily guarded government Green Zone.
At least four other explosions were also reported in other parts of Baghdad, including the Bayaa district in southern Baghdad.
Two mortars also were fired into the Green Zone where foreign embassies and government offices are located.
The Baghdad Operations Command arrested eleven police and army officers in connection with the Wednesday’s attacks which were the deadliest in 18 months.
