One woman was killed and another person was injured in a blast at Church Street area, the heart of Bangalore’s commercial area, on Sunday evening.
The bomb exploded on a footpath outside Coconut Grove, a popular restaurant,on Church Street off MG Road, just after 8.30 pm. when the entire street was decked up for the festive season.
Reddi said that there was a “general threat perception in view of the festive season”.
he deceased has been identified as Bhavani (32) from Tamil Nadu. She had sustained severe head injuries and had been rushed to Mallya Hospital, where she died. The explosion occurred around 8.30 pm when Bhavani and other members of her family were walking towards Brigade Road.
One of her relatives, Karthik (23), was also injured, but is out of danger, doctors at Mallya Hospital said. The other injured, Sandeep (21), has been shifted to Hosmat and is out of danger.
