Hyderabad, October 25: An all-party meet on Sunday demanded that the state government blacklist Emaar Properties and direct a CBI inquiry into its irregularities.
A round table conference on ‘Emaar Properties’ Irregularities, protection of farmers and plot owners’ was convened by the Communist Party of India (CPI). It was presided over by its state secretary K Narayana and attended by PCC spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy, TDP leader Revanth Reddy, CPI (M) leader Y Venkateswara Rao, BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya, PRP leader J Gowtham, Lok Satta leader YD Rama Rao, CPI (ML-New democracy) leader Govardhan, Muralidhar Deshpandey from Forward Block and Janakiram from RSP.
The meet passed a resolution demanding that the land acquired by Emaar Properties from farmers and plot owners should be returned.
The conference also decided to make a field visit to the premises of Emaar Properties for a clear understanding of the facts.
Narayana alleged that the government permitted Emaar Properties to build villas on land meant for industrial development.
Of the 535 acres allotted to Emaar in Nankramguda and Manikonda villages, the government acquired 90 acres forcibly from farmers and plot owners while leaving lands belonging to film actor Krishna and Amar Raja Batteries owned by minister Galla Aruna Kumari, he said.
Reminding that a three-member committee of APII C concluded that Emaar violated terms of agreement and that solicitor general Gopalakrishna directed registration of cases against the guilty, Revanth Reddy wondered why the government did not initiate action so far.
PCC spokesman N Tulasi Reddy said the government has taken measures to address the issue and promised to take the issue of farmers losing their lands to the notice of the chief minister.
