Hyderabad, February 09: Notwithstanding the brainstorming sessions being held on the burning issue of Telangana, Baba Ramdev offered a `simple’ solution. Giving his gyan on the regional movement at a press conference here today, Baba Ramdev said, “Regional imbalance in the region is due to two main reasons, one being partiality and the other corruption.’’ Baba Ramdev, who was in the city to attend a special programme with his devotees, said that the country would not develop if the government went on giving statehood to all the regions. “We can become superpower if the black money from the Swiss bank is recovered and stringent action is taken against corrupt activities in the State,’’ the baba opined and demanded that the Union Government devalue bigger-denomination currency notes (Rs 1000 and Rs 500) to fight the menace of fake currency which is reportedly being used by antisocial elements.
Talking about Bt Brinjal, he said that it was unfortunate that some of the government servants were taking side with companies manufacturing genetically-modified (GM) foods at a time when developed countries like the UK and US rejected the same.
“The government is literally promoting unhealthy food that would cause cancer and other diseases. There are even dangers of consuming vegetables whose genetic structure is modified,’’ he pointed.
Addressing reporters, Baba Ramdev foregrounded his plan of establishing a Yoga centre i n each village throughout the country. “This initiative would help crores of people to get rid of ill-habits like alcoholism and smoking.’’ Replying to a question on his political debut, he said that there were no such plans as of now but would be more than happy to take an active role in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
