Black-marketing at ration shops continues unabated

It would have been a much better move for the government, which provides ration cards to the poor people through Rachabanda and other government programmes, to ensure supply of commodities free of irregularities, as the black marketing at fair price shops continues unabated. The concerned ration shop dealers in connivance with some officers are selling the commodities in the black market, instead of selling them to the residents.

Despite warning of action against the concerned ration dealers their attitude has not changed. They force the consumers make round of the ration shops by saying that there is no stock in the shop. Most of the fair price shop dealers sell the food grains in black market as a result there is shortage of commodities. People do not get all the commodities allotted to them at one time even after hours of waiting in the queue. The dealers also threaten the residents and also the officer who tries to take action against them.

Several complaints have been received especially against dealers of fair price shop located near Gudi hospital, Nawab Saheb Kunta, near Mahmooda Hotel, Shama Colony, and at Jahanuma and Doodh Bowli. They allege that ration shop dealers force them to make 4 to 8 rounds of the shop even then they don’t get their share of commodities.

According to sources card holders of Chandrayangutta, Hafez Baba Nagar, Chashma, Vattepally, Falaknuma, Tadbun, Kale Pathar, Tigalkunta, Nawab Saheb Kunta, Kishan Bagh and Doodh Bowli areas rail against the fair price shop dealers of their area.
