BJP’s Manoj Tiwari involved in scuffle with AAP volunteers at bridge’s inauguration event in Delhi

NEW DELHI: High drama prevailed in the national capital on Sunday with Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari and his supporters coming to blows with AAP volunteers at the inaugural event of the newly-built Signature Bridge+ . A video tweeted by news agency ANI shows Tiwari and his supporters clashing with AAP members even as cops try to bring the situation under control.

“I was invited to the inauguration event. I am an MP from here. So what’s the problem? Am I a criminal? Why has the police surrounded me? I’m here to welcome him (Arvind Kejriwal). AAP and police have misbehaved with me,” Tiwari was quoted as saying by ANI

Hitting out at Tiwari for resorting to “hooliganism”, AAP leader Dilip Pandey alleged that BJP workers thrashed AAP volunteers as well as locals at the event. “Thousands of people have come here to celebrate without an invitation card, but the MP (Manoj Tiwari) considers himself VIP. He is doing hooliganism. BJP people thrashed AAP volunteers & local people. They are admitted to hospital,” Pandey said.

Earlier today, Tiwari had expressed displeasure over not being invited to the inaugural function and took a dig at Kejriwal government saying he will be present at the bridge to welcome the chief minister, who is scheduled to inaugurate the bridge on Sunday. “I will be present at Signature bridge to welcome the Chief Minister. After all I am MP of the area. It took 15 years and Rs 1500 crore to build the bridge, its shameful,” Tiwari had tweeted.

Tiwari is an MP from North East Delhi and the bridge comes in his constituency. Replying to Tiwari’s tweet, Sisodia had said that entire Delhi including he (Tiwari) were invited to the inauguration function and expected him to maintain dignity of the event.
