New Delhi: Ahead of 2019 general election, Congress has made a political return in the Assembly elections held in 5 states. Out of the five states, Congress has gained power in two i.e. Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh while it is leading in Madhya Pradesh. BJP has been routed from here.
The Congress has snatched away 2 key states of Hindi belt from BJP. In Telangana, it was a clean sweep for the party in pink. Congress could not succeed there as per the expectations. In Mizoram, a local party MNF has emerged victorious for the first time.
Interestingly BJP is nowhere in all the 5 states nor is in a position to form the government with an alliance. It must be noted that the elections of 5 states were seen as the semifinal for 2019 elections. Thus it is a major victory for Congress and Modi’s wave seems to have faded.
