Faizabad (UP), August 11: Apprehending breach of peace, the district administration today banned the entry of Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Surya Pratap Shahi into Ayodhya.
The entry of Shahi and other BJP activists had been banned till the end of the Sawan Jhula Mela commencing here tomorrow, Ayodhya Resident Magistrate Nagendra Sharma said.
Shahi along with thousands of VHP, Bajrang Dal and party activists was likely to visit Ayodhya to take a vow to build a Ram temple at the disputed site during the Mela.
To maintan law and order, the district administration had banned the visit of the UP BJP president and other party activists to the temple town, Sharma said.
He said according to police, Shahi was likely to visit Ayodhya between August 18 and 20.
During the Sawan Jhula Mela, the holy town will be flooded with deities from all over the country.
