Jaipur: Demanding that a criminal case must be filed against Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bahadur Singh Koli, who was caught on a CCTV camera slapping a toll attendant in Bharatpur of Rajasthan, the Congress Party today said the arrogance of power has now reached its zenith, adding the top brass at the Centre must apologise to the nation for this completely unbecoming and unacceptable act.
Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot said this is not for the first time that something like this has come from the end of the ruling BJP at the Centre.
“It is well-established that the leaders of the BJP, MLAs, MPs, the ministers continuously flout the norms, not only legal norms but today we have seen a sitting MP from Rajasthan is slapping and beating up people in the middle of the road,” Pilot told ANI.
“What more can be said about this. It is completely unbecoming, it is completely unacceptable. Is this the preaching that they give to the MPs when they meet every Tuesday in Delhi? The BJP leadership at the Centre must apologise to the nation, must take strict action,” he added.
Pilot said the BJP now stands exposed in the eyes of the public.
“The arrogance of power has now reached its zenith. And the leadership of the BJP must actually apologise to the nation for the behavior of their MP,” he added.
The Congress leader further said it’s about time that the BJP takes strict action, launches a police complaint against Koli and makes an example of how people should not behave in public life.
“There must be a criminal case filed against that man because if another person would have done the same thing, the law would take swift action. And here is a gentleman, a sitting MP, is in broad daylight attacking people and showing how powerful he is only because he is from the BJP and from the ruling party,” he added.
The toll attendant was thrashed by the BJP MP after he tried to stop his vehicle, which crossed through the toll plaza without paying.
The MP’s man later came out of the car and hit the attendant in the middle of the road.
Two policemen at the scene of incident, however, did not object to the MP’s behavior. (ANI)
