The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reportedly decided to woo film personalities to increase its chances of establishing a political presence in Kerala.
According to reports in the media over the past few days, film personalities like actor-turned politician and former state minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar and actor Lalu Alex are reportedly being approached for possible roles to help the BJP in this endeavour.
A former Congress office bearer and now affiliated with the BJP, Guru Nair, told ANI over phone that he has spoken with Alex and is trying to reach out to a leading actress to consider joing or supporting the BJP in its bid to establish itself in Kerala.
Nair further said state BJP leaders have given the green signal.
According to Nair,Alex has said that he will acknowledge and salute Prime Minister Narendra Modi if he achieves 50 percent of what he has promised during the 2014 general elections.
It is also being reported that the BJP is hinting at roping in actor Suresh Gopi to its cause.
Last week, BJP president Amit Shah undertook a two-day visit to Kerala, and said the ruling NDA would welcome the small parties with open arms.
The BJP has said it will will contest all the assembly seats in the May 2016 elections. (ANI)
