BJP won’t let people hurt religious sentiments: Sangeet Som

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker Sangeet Som on Sunday dubbed the Dadri lynching incident as extremely unfortunate and said that some people were trying to create tensions in Uttar Pradesh.

“This is unfortunate that the religious sentiments are being hurt very frequently in Uttar Pradesh. And the BJP won’t let that happen, nobody’s religious sentiments should be hurt, those who cause this kind of tension should know that the people will not remain quiet,” Som told reporters after visiting Bishada village here.

“The incident is unfortunate but the atmosphere in the village is more unfortunate as there has been one sided investigation,” he added.

The BJP lawmaker, who was accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots, also used the occasion to target the Samajwadi Party (SP) Government in Uttar Pradesh.

“The same thing happened in Bishada. There was a cow slaughter which resulted into a mob thrashing a man who died. It is unfortunate, but the police must act against those who are responsible for it. One sided action against the village is not acceptable,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today assured his support to the family members of Mohammad Akhlaq, and said that communal harmony is an integral part of nation’s culture.

He also lashed out at the opposition parties for politicising the matter and said that Samajwadi Party would never do politics on matters such as these. (ANI)
