Vijayawada, April 09: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today announced that the party would take out a ‘March to Parliament’ rally over the price rise issue on April 21.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the rally, in which lakhs of party cadre would participate, was to protest against the betrayal of ‘aam aadmi’ by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre.
He said the Union Government had run out of ideas on how to deal with the situation.
To highlight the sufferings of the common man and to awaken the government from slumber, the call for ‘March to Parliament’ was given by the party, he informed.
‘Whenever the Congress comes to power, prices of everything hits the roof…What was the umbilical link between the Congress party and price rise? We are aware that the Congress party’s attitude is always words for the poor and deeds for the rich,” he remarked.
The BJP Vice-President said the increase in prices of petroleum products had a cascading effect on all the essential commodities.
The UPA government was not only ”incompetent” but also ”insensitive” to the sufferings of the people, Mr Naidu said and claimed that there was widespread discontent among the people for electing the Congress-led government at the Centre.
