Jhansi (UP): Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his ‘blood pressure’ jibe, incumbent Chief Minsiter Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have to get their blood pressure checked after the election results are declared.
“The Prime Minister talks about blood pressure. Once election results are out, all BJP leaders will have to get their blood pressure checked,” he said in a joint rally with Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi here.
Asserting that the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance will bring development not only in Uttar Pradesh but in the entire nation, Akhilesh said the alliance of the two young politicians will bring the much required change.
“I just want to tell the BJP that it is not the alliance of two families but of two young politicians to bring about change,” he added.
Referring the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as ‘stone statue’ party, Akhilesh said it cannot be trusted as they have celebrated Rakshabandhan with the BJP many times before.
Akhilesh also ridiculed Prime Minister Modi’s demonetisation drive and quipped that the ‘achhe din’ made poor people stand in queues.
“The Prime Minister said the corruption will end; black money will come back and terrorism will end. But, he failed on all these promises. The ‘achhe din’ made poor people stand in queues and many lost their lives,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, polling for 69 seats is under way in the third phase of the assembly elections. Around 40 percent turnout was recorded till 1 p.m.
Polling is being held in Farrukhabad, Hardoi, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Etawah, Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Auraiya, Lucknow, Unnao, Sitapur and Barabanki districts. A total of 826 candidates, including 105 women, are in the fray. (ANI)
