AIMIM supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has said he stuck to his word that the net beneficiary would be the Bharatiya Janata Party in the event of formation of separate Telangana State.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, the MIM chief opined that the Congress would get weakened if Telangana Rashtra Samithi merged with it. At the same time, the Telugu Desam party would also become weak and pave the way for the BJP to become a formidable force in the region. Though the effect would not be discernible in the near future, the BJP would definitely become an invincible force, he said, adding that there would be no problems as long as the communal parties were kept in their place, otherwise problems would arise later.
Demanding that reservations for Muslim Minorities should continue in both the Telugu-speaking States, the MIM leader said Urdu should be given first language status along with Telugu in Telangana State and second language status in the new Andhra Pradesh State. Owaisi said they have to work hard relentlessly to keep the BJP under check. He also wanted the Centre to complete the process of carving out of Telangana State as per Constitution. He also felt that if small States are encouraged, new demands for separate States for Sourashtra, Vidharbha and Bundelkhan would arise.
The MIM chief also felt the use of the word “settlers” was highly objectionable and atrocious. (NSS)
