BJP website down for second day; Cong offers ‘help’

New Delhi: The official website of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was allegedly hacked on Tuesday, continued to be down for the second day on Wednesday.

While Congress offered “help” to get the site of the rival party “back up”, the Aam Aadmi Party has not refrained from having a potshot at Congress accusing it of helping the BJP.

On Wednesday, the official handle of the Indian National Congress tweeted, “We realize you’ve been down for a long time now. If you need help getting back up, we’re happy to help.” The tweet was followed by a hugging emoticon!

On the Aam Aadmi Party’s official Twitter handle, it said, “Just like what you did in Delhi! This election wherever BJP is down, Congress will help it to get back up” followed by the hashtag #CongressHelpingBJP.

On Tuesday, the BJP website was taken down after several social media users posted a grab of the defaced website on Twitter.

Moments after the news surfaced online, Divya Spandana, head of social media for Congress, took to Twitter, and said, “If you’re not looking at the BJP website right now — you’re missing out.”

In addition, she also posted a screenshot of a meme featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In the video, Merkel was seen walking past the Prime Minister as he tried to shake hands with her.

Till mid-afternoon on Wednesday, the BJP website was down with only a message posted apologizing for any inconvenience.

”We’ll be back soon! Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. we’ll be back online shortly!” it read.
