Hyderabad, July 05: Taking serious exception to the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah’s statement that the bifurcation of the State was not advisable, the BJP has demanded that the AICC president and UPA chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi, and the Congress State affairs in-charge, Mr Veerappa Moily, to give a clarification on Telangana issue.
It may be recalled that Mr Rosaiah, while chatting with the media on the occasion of his birthday, had observed that basically he was against bifurcation of the State and that development was the only answer to the separate Telangana movement.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, the BJP senior leader and former Union minister, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya, said that Mr Rosaiah’s statement was totally opposite to the remarks of the PCC Chief, Mr D Srinivas, that the Congress party would give separate Telangana State in 2014. He said that both the Chief Minister and the PCC president were not sincere towards
Telangana cause and both were making different statements to save their interests. “While Mr Rosaiah spoke against bifurcation of the State in order to save his “gaddi”, Mr Srinivas gave an opposite statement with an eye on the by-elections.
Both are selfish and were making contradictory statements. There is a big gap between them and they left the people confused,” he added.
Mr Dattatreya said that Mr Rosaiah was talking like a simpleton about irrigation. He asked the Chief Minister as how it would be possible to irrigate one crore acres though the State could not irrigate more than two lakh acres after spending Rs 52,000 crores in the name of ‘Jalayagnam’ in the last six years.
Holding the Chief Minister responsible for the government’s total failure in seed distribution for the Kharif, Mr Dattatreya said that due lack of co-ordination among various departments and officials, the government could distribute only 17.89 lakh quintals as against the target of 89 lakh quintals. Ridiculing advertisements on ‘Pavala Vaddi” on the roads, he said the government has miserably failed in sanctioning the loans to the farmers.
Mr Dattatreya said that though Mr Rosaiah was a good person, he was adopting escapist attitude on the welfare programmes. Describing Mr Rosaiah as a ‘kalakshepam CM’ (time pass CM), the BJP leader advised the Chief Minister to transform himself into a performing Chief Minister. He alleged that even 108 Services was also not working properly after Mr Rosaiah stepped into the shoes of the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Lambasting the Chief Minister for spending Rs 4 crores for the Srikrishna Devaraya celebrations, the BJP leader said that the State government had no authority to utilise the TTD funds for the purpose. “Mr Rosaiah claims that he became chief minister due to God’s blessings, but the same man was misusing the TTD funds. Stating that his predecessors, Mr Chandrababu Naidu and Dr YSR had declared that they got power with the blessings of the people, he said that Mr Rosaiah says he got the Chief Minister’s post with the blessings of the God and was misusing the TDD funds.
