Gulbarga, August 12: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president D K Shivkumar has alleged that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has been using blackmail tactics to woo the voters for the August 18 byelections to the five Assembly seats.
Addressing a press conference here yesterday, he alleged that the Chief Minister, in an election meeting at Kollegal, in Chamarajanagar district recently allegedly threatened the voters saying that if the Congress candidates won the election, the development would come to a halt.
Accusing the BJP government of showing laxity in taking steps to provide relief to the farmers in the drought affected villages, Mr Shivkumar said that the government failed to utilise the funds from the Centre. He urged the government to hold an emergency review meeting to discuss about perceived threat of H1N1 in the state.
