BJP Urges EC To Ensure Fair Poll In Nizamabad Urban

Hyderabad, July 26: Exhorting the youth not to resort to extreme steps for the sake of Telangana, the BJP national secretary, Dr K Laxman, urged the Election Commission to keep a special watch on the Nizamabad Urban constituency where the PCC president, Mr D Srinivas, was in the fray, till the end of polling.

Speaking to the media at State BJP headquarters here on Sunday, Dr Laxman asked the EC to prove its efficiency otherwise the people may get a bad impression on the election process. He said that the Congress party candidate in Nizamabad Urban constituency was distributing money and liquor heavily hoodwinking the Election Commission.

Lashing out at the Congress and TDP for contesting in the by-elections, the former MLA said that both were distributing money to influence the voters. “The voters are intelligent and were observing all the bad practices of the Congress and TDP and finally they would vote the candidates, who had resigned for the sake of Telangana”, he felt.

Lashing out at the PCC president and the Congress party official candidate at Nizamabad Urban constituency for assuring the people that the Congress party alone would bring Telangana, Dr Laxman said that Mr Srinivas was once again trying to deceive the people by giving false assurances. He said that Mr Srinivas has achieved nothing for Telangana except a minister post and PCC post for himself in the last 10 years.

Referring to Chakali Srinivas, who committed suicide by burning himself, the BJP senior leader said that due to the Congress and TDP parties’ attitude, innocent youths were taking to extreme steps thinking that separate Telangana might not be possible if the sitting candidates were defeated in the by-elections. He pointed out that Chakali Srinivas clearly mentioned in his dying declaration that his self-immolation might open the eyes of political parties that were deceiving the Telangana people. He said the Congress leaders immediately shifted Chakali Srinivas on Saturday midnight fearing that the incident might affect the prospects of the ruling party candidate, Mr D Srinivas, instead of providing treatment at Nizamabad.

He also said that one Mr Pentaiah succumbed to heart attack while watching the money distribution by the Congress party in Nizamabad town. “What will they achieve by stooping down to that level?” he asked. He called upon the people to cast their votes to ensure victory of the 12 candidates, who caused by-elections, to teach a fitting lesson to the opportunist politicians.

Alleging that both the Congress and TDP were working for the defeat of the sitting MLAs at Nizamabad Urban and Mancherial constituencies with mutual understanding, Dr Laxman said that even minority voters have decided to vote for the BJP candidate, Mr Laxminarayana, for Telangana cause. He has urged the Election Commission to conduct the election impartially and fairly.

The State BJP general secretary, Mr N Ramchander Rao, urged the Election Commission to banish false voters from the Nizamabad Urban constituency. He said that his party has identified some 15,000 false voters out of 28,000 new voters in the constituency. He alleged that one Mr Bhakthavatsalam, former Municipal Chairman of Nizamabad town, has registered 40 votes as against 10 voters in his house. He also said that the party would organise the Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26 by lighting lamps.
