BJP undecided on Jharkhand

New Delhi, May 04: Shibu soren’s fate is undecided as the CM of Jharkhand. After his written apology to the BJP Party President Nitin Gadkari, BJP seems to have mellowed down and uncertain about the future strategy in Jharkhand.

Uncertainty regarding the proposed BJP-JMM partnership for formation of a new government in Jharkhand continued today with the BJP still maintaining that ”it was looking into things.” Party General Secretary Gopinath Munde told reporters here that ”we were looking into things, and would take a decision at an appropriate time.” His comments come in the wake of repprts that there was a sizeable number of JMM MLAs who were not in favour of a BJP-led Government in the state after Mr Shibu Soren quits. Some of them were reported to be in touch with the Congress.

The party had decided to withdraw support from the Soren government after he voted against the Opposition- sponsored cut motion in the Lok Sabha.

However, Mr Soren and his son Hemant Soren had expressed regret over the voting and explained that Shibu Soren had pushed the wrong button by mistake. The son had also made an offer to the BJP to lead the Government, following which the party put its decision to withdraw support on hold.

It held talks with JMM leaders in the capital on Saturday but without any results.

In fact, there was lack of consensus in the BJP as to how far it should go with the JMM.

A large number of JMM MLAs want a respectable exit for Sorem and so want him to continue till his term expires on June 30.

The BJP wants to have a written assurance signed by all JMM MLAs that they would support a BJP-led government.

The BJP has also amply indicated that it does not want to take any hasty decision.
