Chennai, January 12: Newly appointed BJP Tamil Nadu President Pon Radhakrishnan today said he would undertake a statewide tour to strengthen the party base. He told reporters here that during the tour he would interact with the grass root level party workers, understand their problems and rejuvenate them to strengthen the party in all the districts.
He said many farmers in the State were in distress on the eve of Pongal festival as the State government was providing only Rs 1,050 and Rs 1,100 for a quintal of paddy against the demand of Rs 1,800 by the farmers. The price for per tonne of sugarcane was Rs 1,550 as against the demand of Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500, he On the recent bypolls in the State, he said they have gone beyond the control of Election Commission and despite this the BJP would continue to contest the elections.
