Hyderabad, April 19: BJP State president G Kishan Reddy today toured parts of the Old City which witnessed communal violence recently. The tour took place amid tense atmosphere as police tried to prevent the BJP president from entering the Old City.
Police prevented the entourage of Kishan Reddy and other BJP leaders who included former MLA K Laxman near Nayapul.
Heated arguments took place between the police and the BJP leaders and it was only after more than 30 minutes that the BJP delegation was allowed to enter the Old City.
Police also stopped the mediaperson from accompanying the BJP leaders but later they were also allowed. Kishan Reddy went to the Shiv Mandir Goshala at Shamsheergunj where four cows were torched and several others injured in an attack by miscreants during the recent violence.
The Goshala management asked the BJP leader to prevail upon the police to provide adequate security to the place from miscreants.
Kishan Reddy later went to the Chatrinaka residence of GHMC employee, Narasimha, who was killed in the clashes. From there he went to the house of another victim, Tanaje, at Mangalhat.
The BJP delegation consoled the family members of the two deceased and promised assistance to them.
Speaking to reporters later, Kishan Reddy demanded that the government provide compensation to the families of the victims as it did in the case of riots in Bhainsa in Adilabad district sometime ago.
