Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of deceiving the hapless farmers.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Srihari alleged that the BJP and the Telugu Desam Party have cheated the farmers with regard to providing timely succor to them. Though, the BJP came to power by promising to provide remunerative price to the farm produce, it miserably failed to keep it, he charged. He expressed displeasure at the Centre for not releasing guidelines for purchasing cotton from the producers seeking minimum support price. He also found fault with the BJP and the TDP for coming on to the roads for protesting against the farmers’ suicides instead of mounting pressure on the Centre.
The NDA Government was reluctant to provide help the TRS Government to waive the remaining half of crop loans, he charged. Srihari also slammed the Opposition parties for belittling the TRS for political mileage and making baseless remarks against the government. Noted for dubious distinction of encouraging corruption and irregularities, the Congress has no right to level allegations against the TRS Government. “We are doing well in 15 months for the welfare of the poor and development of the State”, he claimed. Srihari also said they are not averse to waive crop loans as officials were working out a long-term plan to overcome the problem of farmers in the State.
The Deputy Chief Minister lashed out at the Congress for leveling corruption charges against the ruling party leaders in various welfare schemes and development programs. The Congress, which is noted for corruption and irregularities, has no right to make remarks against the TRS Government, he charged. Srihari also slammed the Opposition for pretending love for Warangal district and the elections will disprove them, he said. Flaying the previous YSR government for eliminating Maoists in the name of discussions, Srihari said they want a green Telangana and not blood-stained Telangana. He also said previous governments were blood thirsty and physically eliminated thousands of people in fake encounters, he charged. (NSS)
