Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Dr N Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday accused BJP and TDP Governments of cheating the people on granting special status to Andhra Pradesh State.
Speaking to media persons here, Raghuveera Reddy said that at the time of bifurcation, the then UPA Government has clearly specified that special status would be given to AP for a period of five years. He reminded that the BJP had demanded extension of period for 10 years. Present Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu had even created uproar in Rajya Sabha on the issue.
However, after coming to power, both BJP Government at the Centre and TDP Government in AP took no steps to give special status to AP, he said. (INN)
