BJP takes out maha rally against scams-hit UPA Govt

As part of nationwide protest program against the scams-hit UPA government and demanding resignation of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his collegues, the State Bharatiya Janata Party here on Sunday took out a “Maha Rally” from Baghlingampally to RTC Crossroads.
However, the police halted the rally after a few minutes and took the BJP leaders into custody. The protesters also put up stiff resistance to the police personnel by raising “Police Zulum Down Down” heightening the tension in the area.
National BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu, State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, national BJP executive committee member and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, State BJP vice-president Chinta Samabamurthy, T Vijayalakshmi, T. Achari, former MLA Baddam Balreddy, Ramaswamy Ramaswamy, B Venkat Reddy among 1,000 party activists arrested. (NSS)
