BJP suppresses Dalits: CPI

CPI National General Secretary, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy today condemned the police firing on Dalit activists in Madhya Pradesh killing seven people during the bandh against two judge bench diluting the SC/ST Act. In a press release here the CPI leader slammed the governments for violence due to national bandh by Dalits across the country. According to available reports large number of angry people participated in the agitation in North and Western India.

The pentup anger at large number of attacks on Dalits by Hindutva groups including murders, vandalizing Ambedkar statues etc. resulted in angry militant protests. This happened in BJP ruled states where Dalits were targeted. Ruthless suppression of agitation shows the anti-Dalit stand of BJP. He demanded punishment to Police officials who carried attacks on Dalits in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra etc and adequate compensation to the families of victims.
