New Delhi, November 29: Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta today said the party will fully support Bharat Bandh, called by traders on December 1 in protest against the government s decision allowing FDI in retail sector. Mr Gupta told reporters that BJP workers will burn effigy of the Congress government at 20 prominent places of the capital city in protest against the government s decision. The party workers will persuade the traders of Delhi markets to close their establishments. BJP will also make its movement stronger on the issue. The people of Delhi should save retail trade by supporting Delhi Bandh, he said. The UPA-II government has decided to allow the foreign companies to expand their business in retail under heavy foreign pressure and the decision was taken without due consideration and in a haste, Mr Gupta added. The BJP leader said political parties, traders, retail traders, industrialists, farmers of the country were worried due to the decision. He added that 95 per cent of total trade in India was of unorganised retail trade and 20 crore people of the country were directly connected with it. The Congress government should have consulted all the parties before taking such decision. The opinion of the retail traders should have also been taken on this subject, Mr Gupta stated.
