BJP is ‘only suitable option available’ for UP: Uma Bharti

New Delhi : Ecstatic with the historic win in the recent assembly polls in Assam, Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti on Thursday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would form the next government in Uttar Pradesh as the nation out rightly rejected the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the 2014 general election.

Bharti, who was commenting on the NDA Government completing two years in office, said the recent victories in the assembly polls of Assam and Haryana have posed a challenge for the BJP to stand on the expectations of the people.

“Prime Minister Modi has told me that there should be no politics on issues related to the poor. We have to work like Team India. And prior to six months of elections, we would start campaigning. We have always accepted our opponents as opposition and not as enemy,” Bharti told ANI.

“We will make the government in Uttar Pradesh. We got 72 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Mayawati did not get any seat in the general elections. Samajwadi Party got six or seven seats. The people had rejected both the parties. So, I guess BJP is the only suitable option available for the people of Uttar Pradesh,” she added.

The Union Minister also said that her ministry did full planning for cleanliness of the holy river Ganga in the last two years.

“We made various schemes and got them approved from the Cabinet. And as I have promised earlier, the results of phase one for the cleanliness of Ganga will be completed by October this year. 99 projects, which were left pending by the previous government, would be completed by us by 2019,” she said.
