BJP suffered rude shock in Assembly polls in five States: Chandrababu

Amaravati: TDP national president & A P Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said it was a rude shock to the BJP which lost power in three States while regional parties have won in two other States.

Commenting on the Assembly election results in five States, including Telangana, Chandrababu Naidu said leaders of different political parties were totally against the BJP. Taking a tough stand, the TDP president said all the non-BJP parties want the BJP ousted from power at the Centre and create an alternative to it. He said all the non-BJP parties are coming together with an intention to oust the BJP and the TDP would play a key role in humiliating the BJP in the ensuing general elections.

Naidu said the Congress had given some assurances to Andhra Pradesh State at the time of bifurcation of then united State. But the BJP, which wrested power in the 2014 general elections, has failed to implement its predecessor’s assurances. The Congress had also assured that special category status would be granted to the residual AP. But the BJP-led government at the Centre refused to grant special category status. “Hence we have been fighting with the Centre to wrest special category status to AP as promised in Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act of 2014.” He also alleged that the Centre was trying to intimidate the TDP with the raids by ED and IT departments.
