In protest against the unscheduled power cuts in the state, activists of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led by its party’s state President G Kishan Reddy staged a massive dharna in front of the Vidyut Soudha here today. Over hundred activists led by Mr Reddy gathered in front of Vidyut Soudha and raised slogans against the government’s failure to address the power crisis. The BJP activists tried to enter the Vidhyut Soudha’s premises. However, they were prevented by the security personnel from entering the building.
Addressing the activists, Kishan Reddy accused the Congress government of having failed to avert the worst ever power crisis. He demanded chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy to resign from the post owning moral responsibility for his failure.
The party would intensify its agitation against the government, he warned and called upon the party activists to lay siege to power sub-stations across the State until the crisis are resolved. Later, seven party activists and leaders, including Kishan Reddy and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya were arrested by the police.
