BJP slams Government for petrol price hike

New Delhi, January 15:The BJP today termed as ‘unjustified and
unwarranted’, the decision of the petroleum companies to hike the
price of petrol by Rs 2.50 a litre from midnight tonight and
demanded rollback of the hike in the interest of taming the price
rise and inflation.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar condemning the hike said,”it was most unfortunate that the Government was allowing a product worth Rs 30 to be sold at Rs 60. No other government in the world would allow such a loot and the high taxes have to be lowered to help the people who were burdened with second dose of hike within a month.”

He said this is the worst gift of new year to the people of the country and the people will face a 10 per cent hike in a span of just one month at a time when they were unable to bear the brunt of 10 per cent inflation and 15 per cent on food products.

It is only time that the prices of diesel will be hiked and this will have cascading effect on the economies of the families as well as the national economy, he said.

We strongly condemn this and demand the Government to roll back the hike,” Mr Javadekar said.
