New Delhi, April 07: Taking strong exception to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s criticism of the CAG, the BJP today slammed her and said the attack on the constitutionally mandated body was “unprecedented”.
“Public criticism of CAG is improper and highly objectionable. No Chief Minister or central minister has ever publicly criticised the CAG. It amounts to contempt of the constitutional body,” senior BJP leader V K Malhotra said.
Upset over CAG’s critical observations on procurement of buses by Delhi Government, Dikshit had yesterday asked the top auditor to have a “holistic” view and desist from “nit-picking” on small issues.
Accusing Dikshit of “attempting to destroy the credibility of the CAG”, Malhotra said he will request Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram “to rein in the Delhi Chief Minister.
