BJP slams Congress’ anti-adulteration campaign

Jaipur, July 23: The opposition BJP today created noisy scenes and stalled House proceedings during the Question hour alleging that the Congress’ anti-adulteration campaign in Rajasthan was illegal and aimed at harassing and exploiting businessmen.

Interrupting the question hour, G C Kataria of BJP said the campaign was violation of the Essential Commodities Act and the Adulteration Act as it was launched by Food and Civil Supply ministry.

Asserting that the adulteration comes under Medical and Health, the BJP members demanded an answer to their queries from the minister concerned.

In his reply, Medical and Health Minister A Ahmed “Durumiyan” informed the House that of the 1,169 samples sent for test, only nine were found to be adulterated.

Unsatisfied with his reply, the BJP led-by Vasundhara Raje staged a walkout.
