BJP should first unfurl tricolour at RSS headquarters: Yechury

Jalna, January 30: Criticising the BJP over its campaign to hoist national flag in Srinagar”s Lal Chowk, the CPI(M) today said the saffron party should first unfurl the tricolour at the Nagpur-based headquarters of the RSS.

The BJP”s campaign, which was thwarted by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, was “provocative” and a “political stunt”, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said.

The principal Opposition party should first hoist the national flag at the RSS headquarters, he stated.

Addressing a press conference here in Central Maharashtra, the CPI(M) Politburo member said in the next general elections, his party would forge an alliance with the non-Congress secular parties.

Yechury criticised the Congress over the civil nuclear deal with the US and said his party will not join hands with the Sonia Gandhi-led outfit.

The MP said Left parties are firm on their demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the corruption scandals.

Yechury informed that the Left and secular Opposition parties have decided to hold a week-long country wide agitation from February 3 against price rise and the Government”s failure to control it.

He strongly condemned the killing of Malegaon”s Additional District Collector Yashwant Sonawane and said this happened due to nexus between oil mafia and politicians.

Yechury asked the Congress-led UPA Government to take steps to seize the black money stashed abroad. The CPI(M) leader expressed concern over external and internal links to terrorism and said the latter was more dangerous.
