Congress party leaders have said that while their expectations from the Railway Budget remain low, the government should try to deliver on the promises it made regarding the budget.
Congress leader Rashid Alvi said, “I don’t have any expectations from the budget. They have increased the prices more than 14 percent already. Rail fare should be hiked only in rail norms. Modi had always opposed the idea to hike rail prices before rail budget.”
Another Congress stalwart, Manish Tewari, also told ANI “Our only contention is that whatever promises the BJP made to the people of country, they need to be fulfilled.”
The maiden Railway Budget of the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government for 2014-15 will be presented by Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda today.
