Hyderabad, April 09: The BJP national leadership predicts new political developments at the national and state level after May 13 that may even lead to mid-term elections in the country and as such has decided to prepare itself for any eventuality.
Announcing this at a press meet here on Sunday, party national secretary Dr K Laxman said the Congress-led UPA government would find it difficult to overcome the deepening crisis over the corruption issues.
on the party’s programmes in the State, he said a Maha Dharna on farmers’ issues would be held on May 12 at Indira Park in the city under the leadership of party senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu.
The programme would mark the conclusion of the party’s ongoing Jana Jagaran.
Turning to the Telangana issue, Laxman said Congress and TDP leaders should quit their parties to gain a legitimate right to take part in the Telangana movement.
He made light of minister Jupally Krishna Rao’s ongoing padayatra in Mahabubnagar district and TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy’s proposed public meeting at Nagarkurnool.
“The Congress and the TDP have cheated the people on the Telangana issue. The BJP is not ready to join the programmes aimed at furthering the personal agendas of the Congress and TDP leaders,” the BJP leader said.
