BJP says it has learnt lesson from BSP, Left’s failure

New Delhi, June 20 : Declaring that it would not give up its core issues, the Bharatiya Janata Party today ascribed the Bahujan Samaj Party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha election to the latter’s dilution of its dalit agenda.

The party also said the Left also owed its debacle to its deviation from its core ideology.

BJP chief Rajnath Singh, while addressing the Party’s National Executive here, said the BSP’s attempt at Dalit-Brahmin alliance to change its orientation from ‘Bahujan Samaj’ to ‘Sarva Samaj’ could not succeed as it proposed the negation of the very rationale of its existence.

”The result of the BSP trying to change its character by posing to be a harbinger of social harmony through the slogan of ‘sarvasamaj in the form of so-called Dalit-Brahmin alliance is very much evident. Its dream of taking a big leap forward stands shattered,” he said.

In the same way the Left front government in West Bengal was seen acting contrary to their basic principles on issues related to Singur and Nandigram, he said.

”Not only they compromised for power but also gave an impression of enjoying the power by practicing the politics of convenience which is a complete contravention to the leftist ideology,” he said.

So, Mr Singh said, the party would stick to Hindutva, its commitment to the Ram temple, and its demand for abrogation of the Article 270 of the Constitution and a uniform civil code, he said.
