BJP says Digvijay Singh defied attack on Naxals in 2013

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed Congress leader Digvijay Singh when he accused Chhattisgarh Chief Minster Raman Singh of facilitating Maoists.

The BJP claimed Digvijay Singh had opposed former Home Minister P Chidambaram’s to launch a massive attack on Naxalites even after they killed several Congress leaders in Dharbha valley.

“Congress should not try to politicise everything. Congress had lost their valuable leaders in a Naxal attack. We should remember that Chidambaram wanted to launch an all-out attack against Naxalites but it was Digvijay Singh who had opposed it, and this emboldened Maoists to carry out more lethal attacks,” BJP leader Suresh Verma stated.

“This is the time to stand together as the government is trying to tackle the Naxal menace,” he added.

BJP leader Nalin Kohli also rebuked Digvijay Singh over his comment on Sukma attack, where 25 CRPF personnel were killed in an attack by Naxalites on Monday.

He said it was extremely concerning that Congress was playing politics over the dastardly Maoist attack in which 25 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans laid supreme sacrifice for the country.

He also said: “Digvijay Singh’s statement show that he has become desperate under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, whose political advisor is none other than Digvijay himself.”

“Is the congress party so desperate under Rahul’s non-performance that now they have resorted to such kind of politics on the sacrifice of our brave young men,” questioned Kohli.

He said that Congress should pay attention to the fact the Maoist attacks are not new.

“Is it not true that Maoism flourished due to bad policies when they (Congress) were in power?”

Digvijay had accused BJP-led government and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh of the Sukma attack and also accused the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister of ‘helping’ Maoists.
