Ahmedabad: Dalit leader and Vadgam MLA, Jignesh Mevani said that fascist forces like BJP and RSS can kill him and get him eliminated.
According to the news reported in India.com, Dalit groups sought Y category security for Jignesh Mevani and submitted memorandums to collectors in various districts of the state. They had submitted 30 memorandums. They also demanded the withdrawal of cases against Jignesh Mevani and Chandra Shekhar, the co-founder of the Bhim Army.
Earlier in this month, FIR was filed against Umar Khalid, the JNU student leader and the Vadgam MLA for provocative speeches at “Elgar Parishad” which was organized to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Bhima Koregaon battle.
Y category security consists of 11 security personnel, including eight commandos.
In the recently concluded Gujarat elections, Jignesh Mevani won as an independent candidate from Vadgam constituency against BJP candidate Vijay Chakravarti by 19,696 votes.
