BJP renews demand for judicial probe

Hyderabad, April 15: The State Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reiterated its demand that the government should order a high-level judicial inquiry into the recent communal clashes in the Old City in which four persons were killed.

The party today called upon its district units to organise protest programmes at all district headquarters on April 17 against the attitude of the State Government.

The BJP took objection to the attitude of the city police commissioner who, it alleged, was discharging duties under pressure from the MIM and Congress.“Police Commissioner AK Khan speaks in a sweet tone but his actions are poisoning the society.’’ The BJP alleged that the Congress and MIM wanted Hindus flee from the Old City.

That was the reason why the police continued registering cases against Hindus, especially RSS and VHP activists.

Police arrested nearly 300 people and registered 15 cases under several sections including IPC 307. The party called upon the Hindus to extended financial support to the victims and those arrested.

Strongly criticising the National Minority Commission’s tour of the Old City, the BJP said the commission, instead of digging out the truth about the origin of the communal clashes, interacted only with the offenders but ignored the community that was victimised.

Addressing a press conference, BJP State president G Kishan Reddy and general secretary N Ramachandra Rao said that they would expose the State Government’s discriminatory attitude, particularly that of Chief Minister K Rosaiah who failed to provide financial assistance to the victims.
