The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday questioned the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) promise of bringing in a new ‘political culture’ in Delhi and alleged that the money, which should have been used for public welfare, is now used in employing parliamentary secretaries.
“The AAP had made tall claims about bringing a different political culture for the people of Delhi…. It promised to be a pro-people government. But in real sense, the government has turned out to be just the opposite,” Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay told ANI here.
Upadhyay said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had claimed that he would not use bungalows, cars and air conditioners.
“And now, he is using all of that, in fact overusing them. If Sheila Dikshit could get her work done with 98 employees, what special work is Kejriwal doing that he needs more employees than her. So, gradually we are coming to know as to where is the public money going,” said Upadhyay.
“Money should be used for public welfare, not in employing 21 parliamentary secretaries or to have 200 employees with the Chief Minister. A government should have minimum employees, maximum governance. Hence, this poses serious question for the people of Delhi whether this is the kind of alternative political culture that Kejriwal had promised to them,” he added.
Kejriwal has come under harsh criticism after the electricity bills of his Civil Lines residence surged to Rs. 91,000 during the months of April and May. (ANI)
