BJP protested against centre on price rises in Jammu

Srinagar, August 17: Activists of Bharatiya Janata Party today held demonstrations and burnt effigies of the Congress led UPA government protesting aginst the spiralling price rise. Criticising the UPA for its total failure to check the rising prices of essential items, BJP leader Rajesh Gupta said that people, who trusted Congress and voted it on its slogan “Congress ka haath, Gareeb ke saath” are now feeling cheated as Congress after forming the coalition government, did nothing for the “gareeb”.

How much concerned the congress-led UPA has been for common masses is clear from the fact that it has not taken any effective step to control the prices of essential commodities, he said. Gupta said that BJP as a responsible opposition party, has been raising the issues, which have hit life of “aam aadmi”.

Those who charge the BJP of politicising the issue, should themselves visit a medicine, vegetable, fruit, confectionary or other food items shop to get a true picture. How can a labourer, who earns just rupees 100 in day, buy daal costing Rs 70 per kg, he questioned and asked as to why the prices always go up manifold, whenever the Congress comes to power.
