The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday promised that it will grant statehood to Telangana region within 100-days after coming to power at the Centre in 2014 elections.
Addressing an by-election rally in Bollekonda village of Sangem mandal of Parkal constituency, BJP State president G Kishan Reddy said that it would require 270 votes in the Lok Sabha to pass the Telangana Bill and he hoped that the BJP would win almost 270 seats in 2014 elections. He said BJP alone could bring statehood for the region and regional parties with one or two MPs could never realise Telangana. Therefore, he said that it was necessary to strengthen the BJP at all levels.
Appealing the voters to vote in favour of BJP candidate Dr P Vijaychander Reddy, the BJP State president said that pro-Telangana votes would be wasted if they were not cast in favour of BJP. He accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi of cheating the people of the region for the last 11 years. He alleged that the TRS was focused on increasing its vote bank and number of seats and always resorted to resignation politics. He said that the people should reject the TRS in the ensuing by-elections in Parkal and ensure the victory of BJP candidate on June 12.
Kishan Reddy said that the Congress party would never give Telangana State and it would continue to betray the people of this region. He also accused the ruling party of burdening the people by increasing the prices of petrol and other essential commodities on frequent basis. Therefore, he said Congress party should be defeated on all seats.
