BJP is political instrument of RSS: Karat

Bhopal, August 30: Terming the crisis-ridden BJP as a “political instrument” of RSS, CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat today said the Sangh was dictating terms to the party.

“BJP is not a normal party. It is a political instrument of RSS,” Karat told reporters when asked for his comments on the developments in BJP.

The day RSS claimed that it is a cultural organisation after the crisis in BJP reached a crescendo, the very next day, they started dictating terms to BJP to put its house in order, he said.

Karat also said the ban on Jaswant Singh’s book on Mohammed Ali Jinnah by the Gujarat government was totally uncalled for as “every historian has his own style of writing history”.

On CPI-M’s unimpressive show in its traditional bastion in West Bengal, he said his party suffered losses after the Trinamool Congress and Congress joined hands.

Rubbishing rumours that CPI-M cadres were defecting to Mamata Banerjee’s party, Karat alleged that both Congress and Trinamool had a pact with Maoists and nearly 25 supporters of CPM, including 15 tribals lost their lives in violence perpetrated by the outlawed organisation in the last two months.

Commenting on the rising inflation and soaring prices, he said it will be effectively checked if futures trading is completely banned in the country.
