Hyderabad, January 12: The State Bharatiya Janata Party will be organising a mammoth public meeting in the State capital on February 15 with a slogan of “Retaliate corrupt and incompetent Congress government and achieve Telangana State”.
Disclosing this to mediapersons here on Wednesday, the State BJP president, Mr G Kishen Reddy, along with the party’s Telangana Udyama Committee chairman, Mr T Rajeshwar Rao, said that the party’s national leaders, Mr L K Advani, the party president, Mr Nitin Gadkari, the leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Ms Sushma Swaraj, the leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mr Arun Jaitley, the NDA convenor, Mr Sharad Yadav, the Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Prakash Singh Badal, the Bihar Chief Minister, Mr Nitish Kumar, the leaders of Shiv Sena, Jharkhand Mukthi Morcha and NDA constituents will be addressing the meeting. He also disclosed that the BJP would take out a huge rally in the city on that day.
Mr Reddy said that before the February 15 meeting, the party would stage dharnas in all the district and mandal headquarters in the Telangana region on January 27 with a slogan that the UPA government introduce Telangana Bill in Parliament and carve out separate Telangana State. Similarly, dharnas would be organised at village level on February 1, he said, adding that in the last week of February they would organise the third phase of “Palle Pilupu” (Village Calling) programme. He also disclosed that they would organise “Rythu Poru Bata” (farmers struggle path) public meeting in Anantapur on February 18.
Mr Kishen Reddy also alleged that the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was contemplating to impose President’s rule in the State in the wake of unrest generated in the Telangana region after the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report was made public. He also strongly felt that instability was prevailing in the State due to the miserable failures of Centre and State governments.
Speaking on the occasion, the Telangana Udyama Committee chairman criticized the Congress leaders of Telangana region saying that the latter were utilizing the “Telangana slogan” for their selfish political interests and settlements. He also ridiculed the “discourses” of the Rajya Sabha member, Dr K Keshava Rao, that the separate State was imminent. But there was no iota of truth and clarity in his remarks, he said and advised the Congress leaders to shun “dramas” and prove their sincerity by making the Congress high command concede separate State.
Mr Rajeshwar Rao lamented that the media, especially the media barons, were adopting partisan attitude towards the aspirations of the people of the region. He also observed that it was painful that the media which was obsessed with showing violence and obscene films was not showing similar interest on the peaceful movement of Telangana activists.
