Union Chemical and Fertilizers Minister Ananth Kumar on Sunday stated that the purpose of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) alliance was to provide a stable and pro-people government in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The purpose of this alliance in the state of Jammu Kashmir is to provide a stable and pro-people government for six years,” Kumar told media persons here.
“The purpose of this alliance is three-fold: first, to establish peace; second, to rehabilitate people who have been affected by recent floods and to create a regional balance between three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” he added.
Earlier in the day, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was sworn-in as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir while BJP leader Nirmal Singh took oath as the state’s deputy chief minister.
They were administered the oath of office by Governor NN Vohra at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and party veteran L K Advani were among those who attended the ceremony. (ANI)
