The Congress Party on Sunday congratulated the BJP and the PDP for the formation of the new coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the two parties must provide a mature and efficient goevrnment in the state.
“We welcome the formation of the new government. We congratulate the two parties for coming up with their power sharing agreement. We wish them all the best. We hope they provide a mature leadership, keen and efficient government,” said party spokesperson Salman Soz.
Earlier in the day, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of J-K and BJP leader Nirmal Singh took oath as the Deputy chief minister.
They were administered the oath of office by Governor NN Vohra at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University.
The new coalition government will end the 49-day Governor’s rule in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and party veteran L K Advani were among those who attended the ceremony. (ANI)
