BJP-PDP experiment in J&K totally failed: Digvijaya Singh

Hyderabad: The BJP-PDP “experiment” has “totally failed” in Jammu and Kashmir and the coalition partners don’t trust each other, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh alleged.

“Totally failed. They don’t trust each other. They are clinging on to power just for the sake of power,” he alleged, adding PDP is against BJP’s stated position on Article 370 of the Constitution and “other issues”.

To a question if Congress favoured imposition of President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir as suggested in some quarters, Singh said, “Basically, we don’t support promulgation of President’s Rule because it has been misused in Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand (recently) but then the Government of India has to take a stand.”

The Congress general secretary alleged that in dealing with Pakistan, the Narendra Modi government has made a “complete U-turn”.

“We don’t approve the way Narendra Modi and his government have been dealing with Pakistan and the Kashmir issue. These are both contentious issues and in fact, it is the reverse of what Modi and BJP promised in their poll manifesto,” he said.

Accusing BJP of “reversing all their public stance” after coming to power, Singh said Congress does not support the way the Modi government deals with the country’s neighbours.
