BJP Parliamentary Board to finalise Cabinet expansion list today

The BJP Parliamentary Board is expected to hold a meeting in the national capital on Saturday to finalise the list of leaders joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet.

The BJP Parliamentary Board is also expected to decide upon the name of the next Chief Minister of Goa as incumbent Manohar Parrikar will tender his resignation at around 11:30 a.m. today.

58-year-old Parrikar, an IIT alumnus, is expected to be given the charge of Defence Ministry. Presently, Arun Jaitley holds the charge of both Defence and Finance.

Besides Parrikar, party MPs Anurag Thakur, Col. Sonaram Chaudhary and Hansraj Ahir are among those likely to be included in the Cabinet.

BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are also expected to be allotted Cabinet berths.

Former union minister Yashwant Sinha’s son Jayant too is in the race for the Cabinet berth, with reports suggesting that the first-time Hazaribagh MP is being considered as a Minister of State (MoS) for Defence or Finance.
